Core Rules
Breaking any of the core rules can be grounds for immediate consequences at admin digression. Not every situation can be covered by written rules. Use common sense, treat others with respect, and keep the experience enjoyable for everyone. If you are not sure if something is allowed please ask! We are here to guide you.
Don’t be a dick.
Be respectful OOC, out of character bullying or hate will not be tolerated. Be considerate of everyone’s experience. This includes reading and following the RP etiquette provided lower on this page.
Follow ToS
Familiarize yourself with the Linden Labs terms of service for adult rated sims. All rules must be followed.
No Godmodding/Powergaming/Metagaming
You cannot control others characters or use OOC information that your character hasn’t learned yet. Reach out to players to get their OOC consent, especially if you want to do crime on a player or a player’s property.
Combat
Creswell has no official combat HUDs/Meter/Scripts. We are a free form roleplay sim, though if you wish to use dice to determine the success of actions you are welcome to do so (As long as all parties involved agree upon their use)
All combat must be performed through roleplay posts.
Adult Human Avatars Only
No child avatars allowed. This is an adult rated sim. Neko/Furry avatars will be considered humans inside of a costume. The same goes for any fantasy based appearances, it will be viewed as makeup, body modification, etc.
Have Fun!
Ultimately we don’t want to place a bunch of rules or blocks on your story. Be as creative (or as wild) as you wish as long as its within the Linden Labs terms of service.
Roleplay Etiquette
This section provides a general framework for how roleplay is approached in Creswell.
01
Consent Based Roleplay
In Creswell, roleplay is built on mutual respect. Players control their own characters and any major actions or story developments require shared agreement between all person(s) involved.
Players are in full control of their own characters, their actions, reactions and outcomes. While you are free to attempt actions within roleplay, you may not dictate how another player’s character responds or what ultimately happens to them.
Any actions that affect player owned spaces or assets such as businesses or rentals require permission from the appropriate owner/lead before proceeding.
EXAMPLE
-
Acceptable (Action Attempt)
-
Marcus casually brushed past Elena on the busy sidewalk, subtly reaching toward her back pocket in an attempt to slip her wallet free.
-
Unacceptable (Forcing Outcome)
-
Marcus brushed past Elena and lifted her wallet from her pocket without her noticing, slipping it into his own jacket.
02
In Character Consequences
Choosing to engage in risky or harmful behavior opens the door for other players to respond in kind, whether through law enforcement, personal revenge, or social consequences. What goes around comes around.
Severe actions may carry serious consequences, including long-term injury, major loss, or even character death, when agreed upon by all parties involved. No character is protected from the world around them.
(OOC NOTE) If you have any disputes or issues you need to bring a staffs attention please copy a full log/screenshots of the exchange and submit a ticket within the Help Desk ticketing system in the discord.
-
In Short
-
Your choices matter. The risks you take can (and should) have meaningful outcomes.
-
OOC Enforcement & Warnings
-
We strongly encourage players to communicate openly with each other and with staff before issues escalate. Mistakes happen, and we believe in giving people the opportunity to learn and improve.
For minor to moderate rule violations staff will typically follow this approach:
First Warning: Friendly reminder and clarification of the rule
Second Warning: Formal warning noting the repeated behavior
Third Warning: May result in removal from the community at staff discretion
03
Writing Style
Creswell follows a para/semi-para roleplay style. Para roleplay (paragraph roleplay) is a style of roleplay where players write detailed, multi-sentence or paragraph-length responses that describe their character’s actions, thoughts, and dialogue.

High Effort/Good
-
Jermain leaned back against the brick wall behind, the light honking of cars echoing off in the distance. It was late in the city, and while most people had gone home the night was still alive. He slipped a hand into the front pocket of his jeans, pulling free a crumpled half pack of cigarettes. A moment later the flick of a lighter cut through the dim alley. It was meant to be a break from the packed bar…though the peace didn’t last.
Across the street a hooded figure moved back and forth, pacing the same stretch of sidewalk mumbling to themselves. Once. Twice. By the seventh pass it was impossible to ignore. Jermain pushed himself upright and took a few slow steps closer, eyes locked onto the stranger. “What are you doing?” Was confronting the probable addict or gang member stupid? Probably…but at least the safety of a bar full of people wasn’t far if he had to make a run for it. -
Low Effort/Poor
-
Jermain leans against the wall, pulling out a cigarette while looking at the stranger across the street. “What are you doing?”

Fade to Black
Fade to Black (FTB) is a roleplay tool used when players choose to skip over certain scenes rather than play them out in detail.
At times, roleplay may involve situations that are sensitive, intense, private, or simply not something a player wants to write through fully. In these cases, players can agree to “fade to black,” meaning the event still happens within the story, but the details are not actively roleplayed.
FTB should always be discussed with everyone involved in the scene. Players may choose to briefly summarize what occurred, but no one is ever required to roleplay content they are uncomfortable with or would prefer to skip for personal or pacing reasons.
This approach is commonly used for:
-
Adult or intimate scenes
-
Graphic or intense moments
-
Time skips
-
Player comfort levels
